Shrek the Third

So I went and saw Shrek the Third last night. This movie was a bit slow for me. Again there didn't really feel like there was much of a climax. I am amazed at the animation, especially the wrinkles around the queen's eyes, and always amused by the jokes, but the story line itself was a bit long and anticlimactic. All in all I think it rounded out the trilogy nicely. As long as it stays a trilogy.

Plot outline: When his new father-in-law, King Harold falls ill, Shrek is looked at as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away. Not one to give up his beloved swamp, Shrek recruits his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to install the rebellious Artie as the new king. Princess Fiona, however, rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend off a coup d'etat by the jilted Prince Charming.

Been a long time coming

I really haven't blogged in forever because I haven't been bored enough at work. But I have hit that point so now I am going to give some quick reviews on movies I have seen recently.

The Wicker Man- Does Nicholas Cage hate himself? Because this is one of the worst movies I had ever seen. Perhaps it is because I don't get what the message was, perhaps it is the belief that old traditions aren't always the best and human sacrifice is never good? Or maybe it is don't help people? Whatever Hollywood was trying to say- they should stop trying to say it through movies like that.

Meet the Robinsons- What a totally cute movie. It was hilarious, maybe a little mind boggling for kids what with time travel and all- but great none the less. It is one that I wouldn't mind watching over and over again. I love the running jokes of the frog girl and the crazy family.

Spiderman 3 was the last movie I saw. It was really, okay. I thought it was a bit slower the the previous movies, but I liked the characters- especially their humanity. I was a little disappointed with the ending, especially if there aren't going to be anymore with Tobby- but it seems like Hollywood never really likes to finish out movies anymore in case of the possibility of making one more.
Well, I don't know when I will blog again- at least i remembered my username and password.

What to do now?

It is official. I have graduated from college and begun living my life as an educated adult. The only problem is what to do now? My life has always been planned. When you turn 5 you go to school, and you keeping going. For some it is finished after high school, and they deal with this dilemma much earlier. For others they know exactly what they want to do and they get their degrees and do it. For those like me, we get our degrees in interesting subjects, but not practical ones and then try to find a job.

But no one wants to give you a job for your useless degree, not unless you have experience. And you can't get experience until you get a job. Why won't anyone hire me?

No more CleanFlicks?

What is the world coming to? I can't even get my movies edited anymore? This really bothers me. I enjoyed being entertained but does that mean I have to sit through disgusting scenes and foul language because some director feels it is his creative genius and shouldn't be tampered with?

What really gets me is these movies are later edited anyway for T.V., and I don't see directors fighting the networks to not have their creative masterpieces edited. It is not like I get these edited movies for free, they are still making money off of it. Maybe with the loss of money they will come to their senses and either make cleaner films (which probably won't happen) or let someone edit the films.

Wedding Crashers

This movie was hilarious, even edited. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn make you laugh from beginning to end. I thought for sure this movie would have a dumb ending, but it was really good, which I think made the movie. Definitely a movie to see if you are looking for a laugh- although I recommend it edited.

Here is the synopsis: Divorce mediators John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey are business partners and lifelong friends who share one truly unique springtime hobby--crashing weddings! Whatever the ethnicity of the wedding party--Jewish, Italian, Irish, Chinese, Hindu--the charismatic and charming duo always have clever back stories for inquisitive guests and inevitably become the hit of every reception, where they strictly adhere to their proven rules of wedding crashing to meet and pick up women aroused by the very thought of marriage. At the tail end of another successful season of toasting brides and grooms, Jeremy learns that the daughter of Treasury Secretary William Cleary and his wife, Kathleen, is getting married in what is sure to be the Washington D.C. social event of the year. After infiltrating the lavish affair, John and Jeremy quickly set their sights on two bridesmaids, Claire and Gloria Cleary. With the lavish reception in full swing, Jeremy works his game plan to perfection in seducing Gloria, but John's flirtation banter with Claire is unexpectedly impeded by her pompous, Ivy League boyfriend Sack. Having uncharacteristically fallen hard and fast for Claire, John convinces a resistant Jeremy to bend the crashing rules and accept an invitation to an extended weekend party at the Cleary family compound. Once at the palatial waterfront estate, John and Jeremy endure a multitude of comical mishaps at the hands of the dysfunctional members of the Cleary family, but also learn a few unexpected lessons about love and relationships.

Taking Lives

This was a really good psychological thriller. A lot of times movies such as this one, are predictable and flat. This movie however was action packed and intense. The plot twists were unexpected, and the acting was incredible. I didn't know Angelina Jolie was such a good actress.

This is a movie I would recommend to anyone, as long as it is edited of course. But even edited, I didn't feel like I missed anything important. The movie flowed really well. In fact it is kind of slow in the beginning, but picks up and just keeps going like a roller coaster.

Synopsis: A top FBI profiler, Special Agent Illeana Scott (Academy Award-winner ANGELINA JOLIE) doesn't rely on traditional crime-solving techniques to unravel the mysteries of a murderous mind. Her intuitive, unconventional approach is often the only way to unlock the identities of the killers for the police to capture. When Montreal detectives handling a local homicide investigation reluctantly ask for an outsider's help to get inside the head of a cunning serial killer, Agent Scott joins the case. With meticulous insight, she theorizes that the chameleon-like killer is 'life-jacking' - assuming the lives and identities of his victims. As the pressure mounts to catch the elusive murderer, Agent Scott's unorthodox methods alienate her from a territorial police team that feels threatened by her uncanny abilities. Her seemingly cold demeanor belies an unparalleled passion for her work, and she's at her best when she's working alone. But when an unexpected attraction sparks a complicated romantic entanglement, the consummate specialist begins to doubt her finely honed instincts. Alone in an unfamiliar city with no one she can trust, Agent Scott suddenly finds herself on a twisted and terrifying journey, surrounded by suspects in a case that has become chillingly personal.

So, I read in consumer report the Sky isn't as good as it sounds. The Report said that the most reliable convertable is the Mazda Miata. But it also said one of the best and cheapest cars is the Ford Focus. I am looking into that car.
